Your treatment journey

Prior to your consultation with one of our professional dentists, we can offer a free virtual or in-house chat with one of our friendly and knowledgeable treatment coordinators, who can:

  • Give you an introduction to a chosen treatment or help guide you through various options that can be available.
  • Listen to your expectations of treatment.
  • Outline the costs involved.
  • Reassure anxious patients.
  • Be a point of contact for you throughout the treatment process.

Step 1: Consultation

A full examination of your mouth is undertaken, and we will examine any current dentures to see if they are no longer a good fit. With your approval, we can start the design process for your new dentures. This involves taking digital scans or impressions of your teeth and choosing a shade for your dentures. If you have come to us with gaps in your teeth, we can give you a temporary set of dentures to wear while you wait for your permanent dentures to be finished.

Step 2: Fitting

Once your dentures have been created by our dental technician, they are ready to be fitted! Partial dentures are retained with friction, provided by adjacent teeth, as well as small clasps. Complete dentures usually rely on the natural suction created with the appliance.

FAQs

1. What types of dentures are there available?

Partial dentures: Replace a few missing teeth. They are supported by existing natural teeth.

Complete dentures: Replace a whole row of missing teeth. These are supported by the suction with the gums.

Implant dentures: Suitable for replacing several teeth or a whole mouth of missing teeth. These are the most effective set of dentures you can opt for, as they are normally the most secure.

2. How do I know if my dentures no longer fit?

During your routine check-ups, your dentist will keep a close eye on how well your dentures fit. If you notice any of the following symptoms, we recommend that you make an appointment with us as soon as you can; these could be an indication that it’s time to address the issue of poorly fitting dentures:

  • Soreness.
  • Slipping and sliding dentures when you eat.
  • Gag reflex.
  • Painful gums or ulcers under the denture.
  • Worn teeth on the dentures.
